Longer drives from Silvermere Blue Mountains Accommodation

Blackheath – 20 minutes
Govetts Leap
Turn right at the traffic lights in Blackheath and go to the end of this road where you’ll find spectacular views and the start of numerous short and long walks. There is a National Parks and Wildlife Information Centre at the start of the road into the National Park on the left hand side.

Mt Victoria – 30 minutes
Great park and picnic spot, old shops, cafes, pub and old style picture theatre – Mt Vic Flicks.

Jenolan Caves – 1.5 hours
A steep and winding road off the Great Westen Highway at Hartley leads to Australia’s most spectacular caves. It is a good idea to book your tour before you go. Detailed information on the caves can be found on the guest information desk.

Mt Wilson/Mt Tomah – 1 hour
At Mt Victoria turn right at the traffic lights and follow the signs to the Bells Line of Road to Mt Wilson. Fertile volcanic soils have allowed for spectacular cool climate gardens. Some gardens are open all year, however, autumn and spring are the best times to visit. You can also visit Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens with it’s restaurant and coffee shop. Information on several of the gardens is available at the guest information desk.

Zig Zag Railway
After turning left at Bell from Mt Victoria, you’ll clearly see the turn off on the right to the Zig Zag Railway. Have a ride on a vintage rail motor or steam train. Children and adult steam enthusiasts love it. Picnic spots, walking tracks and refreshments available.

Megalong Valley
Turn left at the traffic lights at Blackheath, go over the railway line and immediately left and follow the signs to the Megalong Valley. A pretty drive where you’ll find horse-riding facilities and a tea house.
